9 Ways to Make Money Blogging

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is “how do you actually make money with a blog?” There really are so many different ways, and I want to show you that it is possible for YOU to make money blogging too! The best part….it’s totally up to you how much time you put into your blog, and how much you want to make.

1. Love what you are doing..

If you start a fashion blog, but don’t have a passion for fashion..I can almost guarantee that you won’t much on your blog. The best part of blogging is it is a way to make money doing something that you love. If you are writing about things that excite you and make you happy then your readers will feel that, they will be more inclined to read what you have to say, and return for more! So figure out what you love!

2. Google Ads

This is a quick and easy way to start making money from your blog. It’s easy to sign up and use, and every time someone clicks on your ads..you get paid! Visit Google Adsense to get started.

3. Market Your Blog

You need to get LOTS of followers on your social media accounts. Pin the articles on pinterest, share them on facebook and instagram. The more traffic you can get to your blog and website the better!

4. Make Your Blog Pleasing to the Eye

Mess around with different ideas, layouts, color schemes, etc. Visit other blogs that seem popular and notice what they do. If your blog is messy and hard to read then it doesn’t matter how amazing the article is….readers will exit out as quickly as they got there.

5. Affiliate Marketing

You can make a lot of money through affiliate links on your site, and there are SO many different affiliates out there I’m almost positive you can find some that will work with your blog. One simple example is Amazon. You set up an account, and put links to products on Amazon articles into your articles, and each time someone buys something from your link you get paid a % of the total! It’s definitely worth it to take some time, and research different affiliates and find some that will work best for you.

6. Write Posts Regularly

The more traffic you have, the more money you will make. So write at least a few posts a week, and make sure to pin those posts on pinterest. Get your name out there, so people want to click on the article even more when they see that you are the one who wrote it!

7. Don’t Let Old Posts Get Lost

It doesn’t matter if a post is 2 years old, you can still get people to read it! So go through your old posts, and re-pin them, or post them on Facebook or Twitter often to keep more and more people clicking to your blog!

8. Link Your Articles

Have links throughout your articles to other similar articles on your site. Make sure that you are advertising your posts on your blog, so when a reader comes they want to stay…instead of just reading the one article that got them there.

9. Create an Email List

You know that link that pops up on blogs…it’s easy to click out of, but it’s also easy to add your email if you like what you see! When you get people on the email list you can inform them of new and exciting things on your blog, and get lots of return readers!

16 Ways to Use Your Camera to Make Money

Taking pictures can be more than just a hobby; you can actually make money off your photographs! You’ll need to have a gifted eye (or be trained in photography,) to be able to make money with your photographs.

Start with individual portraits or even family photography. There are lots of ways to go about doing this: you can put posters up around the city center, talk to neighbors and/or friends, or build an online profile.

There are actually a TON of sites that you can use to sell your stock photos to. There are so many with different rules and guidelines that you’ll for sure find one you like. Look around, find one that gives you a good cut of the profits, and then start working!

You should also join picture sharing sites like Flickr, for example. You can adjust the rights to your photos so that people can see them and either use them for free or buy them at a cheap price. This will get your work out there so more people talk about and use it.

You’ll want to start building a portfolio both online and in a physical copy. To get real experience in your portfolio, start by offering free or super cheap sessions.

Websites like Scoopshot will hire you and give you photo assignments that they’re in need of. You can sign up for multiple websites and, when they need photos, they’ll put out an assignment that you can select. It’s a pretty easy and great deal if you like taking pictures anyways.

Landscape photography is a pretty big deal, especially in tourist areas. Tour companies are always looking for good pictures to put on their websites and brochures, and you could even make and print your own photos to sell to tourists.

As you take pictures and start getting experience, make sure you’re using them to build an online presence. Join networks like Instagram to build a following, and get paid to travel!

Airbnb hires freelance photographers to take pictures of apartments and rooms for sell. You’re contracted out individually by each owner, but Airbnb is sure to set you up with some pretty sweet connections.

In fact, real estate photography in general is a good business to get into. Realtors or independent contractors and sellers are often looking for a skilled photographer that can make their property look as ideal as possible.

You could try your hand at “PR Photography.” This is pretty much the more acceptable term for being in the paparazzi, but hey, it pays well. Take pictures of celebrities and then sell them to websites and magazines. If you get a good picture, you can actually make some pretty decent money this way.

Special occasions such as graduation, weddings, or sporting events are a good way to make money as a photographer. Usually you can reach out to people and offer your services at these events since they’re always wanting professional pictures at a good price.

Mix photography with marketing by signing up with services like Stylinitiy. Basically, you take pictures of your clothes and post them on Instagram. If your followers buy your look then you get paid! It’s a fun combo of fashion and photos

Once you’ve got a pretty good base, you can start contacting companies directly and offering to take pictures of their products and brands. If they can see that you’re good at what you do, then they’ll very often give you a trial run to see if you’re a good fit.

Websites like Foap allow you to sell your iPhone images to make some quick money. You split the profits with Foap, but they provide great access to all kinds of services.

If you live in a big city or somewhere that always has special events, hang around those event areas and offer your services to people at a small price. This is pretty popular at sporting events or other things that attract tourists.

Try and see if you can contact some magazines or newspapers to sell your photos to them. They usually want very specific pictures, so if you have what they want then they’ll often pay you a decent price to get it.

4 Good Reasons You SHOULD Be Using Credit Cards

I am going to play devil’s advocate here.  WHAT IF… credit cards were good?  So often we hear all the bad and dangers about credit cards.  Today, lets focus on the GOOD associated with credit cards and the reasons you should be using them, responsibly. 1. Credit Cards Establish Credit History There are many ways you can create credit history, but the easiest is definitely by using credit cards.  For ten years, our goal in marriage was to get completely out of debt and we accomplished this at the 10 year mark- yay us! We were debt free (minus the mortgate) and we were so excited!  We didn’t have any other debt.  In fact, I didn’t even own a credit card.  I am so responsible!  Long story short, after applying for a store credit card for an enormous discount on school clothes, I was given a $200 dollar limit, which was just insulting.  I was shocked and a little confused.  I should have stellar credit!  The truth, is that I had NO credit.  My name wasn’t on most of our previous loans, to make financing simpler.  So we applied for a skymiles credit card and started using it in our everyday life.  All the bills were automatically charged on the card and I pay it off monthly.  My credit score has dramatically increased and I am establishing a credit history, which will make other financing or other things a little easier. In order to qualify for a home loan, or other financing, you will need a credit history to get approved. Credit history is different from your credit score because it shows how long you have had credit, and whether or not you are using it. So, the best way to create a credit history is by using your credit cards and then paying them off each month before you acquire interest. 2. Simplicity If you don’t have a credit card, it can make life a little tougher.  You can’t even reserve a rental car without a valid credit card (yes, some will take debit cards.) If you have a credit card, you can use it to pay all of your bills, set up automatic payments, etc.  I am weary of having automatic payments charge my debit cards.  I have had companies maker errors and take out more money than expected, and it can really mess you up if the money comes out of your checking account when you aren’t expecting it.  I like to be able to review my charges and be sure everything looks right and then pay my statement. Using a credit card for all of your purchases makes paying bills so easy and great!  Each month, you check your statement, review your purchases and pay your statement, and you are all done!  This is a method you should only use if you are very disciplined and do not spend more than you have budgeted each month.  If you aren’t careful, you can find yourself with a balance.  Only do this if you spend less than you make and are good at keeping your expenses less than your income.  It can get away from you pretty quickly, if you don’t pay attention and spend like a sailor, only to find that you are short at the end of the month. And if you can do this, congratulations.  This shows great self-control and responsibility. 3. Improves Your Credit Score When you have and use a credit card, it will help you raise your credit score.  As long as you are careful and pay your bill each month on time and are careful not to be late,  your credit score will improve.  Also, if you keep your balance below 50% of your credit limit, and pay regularly, you will have a higher credit score than if you didn’t have or use a credit card at all.  As I mentioned above, it is important to have some sort of credit history.  Don’t let your cards sit dormant.  Use them, pay them off and keep them active.  Be careful not to apply for a million cards, hoping to improve things “quicker.” Each time you apply for a credit card or loan, your credit takes a small hit.  So be thoughtful in which cards or loans you apply for. 4. Credit Card Rewards  Yes, yes and yes!!  I can’t believe I missed out on credit card rewards for most of my life. About a year ago, I got a Capital One rewards card.  I put absolutely every expense we have on my new rewards card, and we will be able to take my family of 6 on a pretty great vacation next summer, using only our rewards.  If you are spending money anyway, you might as well get paid for it.  I have all of my monthly bills, excluding my mortgage automatically charged to my Capital One rewards card and I get 2 points for every dollar that I spend.  School shopping, Christmas gifts, and oh so many medical bills the past year.  My only regret is not having done it sooner.  If you are wondering what the best credit card rewards program is, you can see my summary of the different offers here. Be sure to read all terms and conditions and use the card the way it is intended.  If you rack up a balance and pay lots of $ each month in interest, it isn’t really worth it.  I only use my card for the purchases I make each month anyway, and then I pay it off on payday each month.  That way, I pay no interest but I get the rewards.  It is perfect for someone that is disciplined enough to spend that way and budget to be sure the money is there to pay off when the statement arrives. Remember I am not discrediting the warnings against using credit cards. They are a common pitfall for acquiring unnecessary debt. If you can be financially responsible and use credit cards in a positive way, they can benefit you in many ways. 25 Easy Ways to Save Money

We all want to make more money, but it seems like it can be such hard work sometimes. You either have to take a whole new job or spend $0 on fun things until you’ve reached the amount of money you want. However, you don’t need to make such sacrifices anymore! Here are 25 easy ways that anyone can start saving money.

Budget

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it because it’s so important: Budget, budget, budget. If you haven’t, then start; if you have one, then sit down and re-evaluate. It can never hurt to go over your budget again and work out any kinks. This will help you be more accountable with where and how you spend your money.

Snowball Method

If you have debts that are gathering interest, here’s the best way to pay them off and keep that money for yourself. Instead of spreading your extra money across multiple different payments, only pay the minimum on all but one—the smallest one. From there, work you’re way up through the next biggest debt until they’re all gone.

Overpay

Like the snowball method, overpay a bit on your debts or credit cards as much as you can. This will keep the interest levels down while also helping you whittle away at the debt as a whole.

Water Meter

Invest in a water meter for your house. This will help you measure and keep track of how much water you’re using and when so that you can figure out ways to make your water use more efficient.

Pack Lunches

Don’t buy lunches for you or your family. Instead, spend some time every night or morning and make packed lunches. This saves you money (since packed lunches are cheaper than ones you buy), but it’s also probably healthier since you’ll be controlling what you and your family eat.

Keep Doors and Windows Shut

This is especially important if you have kids or animals in the house. Doors and windows often get opened and never get shut, letting the cold air out during the summer and hot air out during the winter. This, in turn, makes you pay more to keep your home at a nice temperature.

Seal Cracks or Leaks

Besides keeping doors and windows shut, you’ll also want to check for any cracks or leaks in them that are slowly letting in cold or hot air. Even if it’s a subtle crack, it can costs hundreds of dollars to be thrown away on your utilities.

Garden

Save some money by growing your own vegetables, fruit, and herbs. You’d be surprised at how much money you spend on those kinds of foods, plus it’s a great way to be self-sufficient and get out in the great weather!

Check Offers

Before you go shopping or out to buy something, check to make sure you’re getting the best deal. This might mean spending a few extra minutes scanning online for competing prices or looking over a store’s catalogue, but it’s worth it if you can save some money!

Rebate Program

There are tons of rebate programs you can get involved in or couponing sites that save you money! Ebates is one of the most popular, but you can enroll in numerous programs with all sorts of different perks and benefits.

Buy Used Books or free Kindle books If you love to read and have your own library, then buy your books secondhand or buy electronic versions. I’m not a fan of e-books, but you can get some great deals (even free books) if you use a Kindle or other similar product. If you want a hard copy, then buy a gently used copy that you can still read but doesn’t cost nearly as much. Use the Library If you like to read but don’t care about owning your own books, then consider just using the library. You usually only have to pay a one time fee (or small annual fee) to get a library card and then you can read as many books as you want. Buy in Bulk This isn’t always the case, but buying in bulk makes the price of each individual item go down significantly. If you have a big family or go through certain items really quickly, then this is a great idea. For small things, don’t buy in bulk However, buying in bulk may actually be bad for you. If you live by yourself or your family doesn’t go through things like milk or ranch very fast, then buying them in bulk may be a waste of money. If you find yourself throwing out food before it gets used, then stop buying in bulk and buy the size that you’ll actually use. Save Spare Change It might be tempting to just leave your change in the cash register or get rid of it, but don’t! Keep your spare change and collect it. Over time, you’ll get a pretty hefty collection of change that you can use for whatever you want! Turn off Lights Get you and your family in the habit of turning off lights when they’re not being used. This seems especially difficult for kids to grasp, but it’s a good habit to start. You’d be surprised at how often this happens and how much money you can save if you can start turning them off when not in use. Coupon, Coupon, Coupon There’s really no reason not to use coupons. They’re easy to get, free, and give you great deals on products you were probably already going to buy. Look for store and manufacturer coupons to save twice as much. Don’t Get Sucked into Sales Just because something is on sale doesn’t mean that you need it. Avoid the urge to say, “Oh! It’s on sale now, so I should buy it before they’re all gone” or something similar. If you tell yourself that, then you probably didn’t need the item in the first place. Buy Based on Value, Not Price This is hard for some people to do (I was one of them), but it really is better to buy based on value and not on price. A shirt that’s $5 but falls apart in two days isn’t nearly as smart of an investment as a $20 shirt that last you years. Buy Used Baby Clothes It’s silly to buy brand new baby and kid clothes. They’re going to outgrow them in a few months, and then you’ll just have to spend more money. Buy used (but still clean and good quality) baby clothes since they’re only going to be used for a little bit. 25 Easy Ways to Save Money5 Use Less Laundry Detergent Companies are tricky when it comes to laundry detergent because they usually put a scoop that is way too big so you’ll use more cleaner. Clever, right? Beat them at their own game by using less detergent (usually half the scoop will do the trick), and you’ll take a lot longer to go through it all. No Gym Membership I’ve always found it funny that people will drive to go to the gym. I know you do more than run and walk at the gym, but you’re wasting money on gas and the gym membership when you do that. Get rid of the membership and buy a workout DVD or run outside if you want. Join Free Customer Rewards Programs The trick here is to make sure that the rewards program is actually free. Some stores make you pay for their program, which I don’t think is usually worth it. But if it’s free and you can get access to great deals and coupons, then why not? If you hate the emails, then just create an email specifically for rewards programs. Make a List When you go to the store, make a list and stick to it! Don’t get distracted by fancy deals on products you don’t need or yummy food that isn’t good for you or your wallet. When you stick to your list, you only get things you need and save money! Drink More Water This may sound like a health tip, but it’s also a financial one! By drinking water more, you’ll cut things out like pop that can get pretty expensive (especially name brand). You’ll also be more full at dinner, which means you’ll eat less, which means you’ll spend less money on groceries! It’s a win-win!

Amazon Trade-In Program Amazon has a very long list of things you can trade in, including cell phones, laptops, cameras, books, textbooks, music, mp3 players, and much more. It’s easy to access and the shipping is free on your end. Once you decide to send in your items, they will print you off a shipping label to use. You can see online immediately what their offer is for the items you decide to send in. This makes it convenient to decide if it’s worth it or not to send in the items you have. Mechanical Turk            mTurk is a site that usually offers short tasks, referred to as HITS, that require very little skill or outside equipment besides a computer with internet access. HITS have tasks like transcription, data entry, information verification, etc. The payout is usually less than $1 per HIT, which isn’t much but it also doesn’t require a lot of effort. This work offers a very laidback atmosphere and an ability to work as you please without a big commitment. A site like mTurk List can help you find lucrative HITS. You will get paid through Amazon Payments which can be transferred to your bank account or you can spend on the Amazon website. Customer Service Amazon has many work at home jobs available. They have seasonal, part-time, and full-time employee positions that involve answering customer questions and assisting in the sales process. Amazon hires residents of Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Amazon Associates If you sign up for Amazon Associates, you can earn 4% or more of a commission from Amazon when you direct people to Amazon.com. This is great if you are a blogger! All you have to do is write about a product you love on Amazon and post a link for people to click on from your site. The more sales you send their way, the more your commission increases. You will also make money from purchases people make if they buy other things after they’ve already clicked through your website because, Amazon keeps track if they bought other things right after visiting your site as an Amazon Associate. Kindle eBooks If you consider yourself a writer, or feel like you have great insights to share, why not publish your work? Instead of going through the hassle of finding a publishing company that will accept your material, you can just publish it yourself. With just a few clicks of your mouse, and minimal investment, you can publish through Amazon Kindle. The best part is, no upfront cost is required to sell eBooks through Kindle Direct Publishing. Once people buy your book you will give a portion of your profits to Amazon in some cases, but you will be paid a royalty of 35% to 70% depending on the price of your book. Overall, you can’t beat Amazon’s built-in customer base and affiliate program. Amazon FBA A really popular form of side income right now is called “Fulfilled by Amazon”, or FBA. How it works is you purchase merchandise at a cheap price, usually through a wholesale company, and then you send it to Amazon to store and ship. You sell the items at a markup price and Amazon will take care of shipping the items to the customer. This process does require an investment, but after you purchase the merchandise and ship it off to Amazon to fulfill the orders while you enjoy the income. There are many people who make much more than just a side income selling with FBA.
